Workshop on Understanding, Implementing and Institutionalizing FMA Child Protection Policy in FMA Provinces

1)The above programme was conducted in all the FMA provinces of India. The resource persons were Fr. Joe Xavier SJ and Sr. Isabella Alphonse
25th and 26th September 2015 –Bangalore the number of Participants were 52 It was conducted in the Provincial House. The organizers were the Social Development Office Sr. Rosy Lopez and her collaborators. Sr. D’Almeida Crescentia the Provincial of Bangalore Province gave the Inaugural address for the workshop. She high lighted the need for the policy in the current critical situations of the society and the ambience in which the children grow.
29th and 30th September 2015- Kolkata the number of participants were 55- Provincial House Sr.Leelamma the Social Development Office of Kolkata Province organized the workshop in the Kolkata Province. Sr. Rose Ezarath the provincial in her inaugural speech focussed on the situation of children in India and the practical methods which we need to device to combat teh issue against children in terms of protection. Being the vulnerable district for trafficking in the cross border areas too she appreciated the Policy which comes as a referral point to work on the safer environment for children.
1st and 2nd October 2015-Guwahati the number of participants were 56- Provincial House Rev. Sr. Annie the Social Development office coordinator organized the two days workshop in the Provincial House. The members participated were comprised of the Animators of the local communities as well as trainers. Sr. Elizabeth George the Provincial and the PCI president in her opening address said about the history of the child Protection policy in the FMA INDIA, the journey it had gone through to arrive at the concrete action plan to make our institutions a child friendly one.
5th and 6th October 2015-Shillong- Provincial House-55 participants In the beautiful hill place of Megalaya, the two days workshop was organized by the SDC of Shillong Sr. Gemima Phormen. The participants participated were from different sectors like the Headmistress, Directors, Formators, Juvenile Justice Board members and Child welfare committee personnel etc. The Provicnial Sr. Isabella Suja in her Key note address to the participants exhorted the significance of institutionalizing this policy which should percolate down to each and every one oin our institute. Being the place more prone to trafficking and abuse she expressed the need for our sincere intervention through effective programmes to address the issue.
21st and 22nd November-Mumbai The SDC of Mumbai Sr. Magadalene has organised the workshop . The two days workshop focused more on the introduction of complaint Mechanisms and the formulation of the code of conducts and other important means of addressing the issue of child protection. The Provincial Of Mumbai Sr. Rita Dora was very much keen on the implementation of this policy in all the sectors to ensure the safe environment for children. The complaint Boxes were already kept ready for the usage of children.
Chennai Province Chennai-Feb 17th to 18th and 19th 20th-Trichy 2016 Kodambakkam –Chennai-The number of participants were 40. In Trichy 40-The heads of the communities and the Headmistress and the directors of the formal and Non formal centers. The group discussions and the preparation of Activity Planning Matrix along with Mock exercises to understand the severity of the issue of child protection were teh hall mark of the capacity Building programme. Rev. Fr. Joseph Xavier SJ and the National Development Forum coordinator Sr. Isabella Alphonse were the resource personnel. The Social Development Office Coordinator Sr. Arokia Selvi organized this programme with the collaboration and guidance of the Provincial Sr. Magnificat soosai and her council. Sr. Magnificat , in her address to the sisters invited all the participants to take concrete steps towards implementation of the policy. She too explained the journey of the FMA –Child Protection Policy and said that it is our turn to make it effective in our ambient.
